Fear the Walking Dead is an American horror drama television series created by Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson (The Walking Dead). It premiered on the AMC network on August 23, 2015 with the premiere episode "Pilot". The series is a spin-off of The Walking Dead, which is based on the comic book series of the same name by Robert Kirkman, and takes place soon after the onset of the zombie apocalypse in the Western United States. It follows a blended family led by Madison Clark, a high school guidance counselor, and her fiancé, Travis Manawa, a schoolteacher. The couples two children and Traviss son from a previous marriage struggle to adjust to their new lives as the world around them changes and a zombie outbreak slowly affects their lives. The group eventually moves to a Mexican beach town called La Colonia, where they are taken in by a mysterious benefactor, known only as the Colonias "Delgado" family. As the group faces new challenges, they must also come to terms with their new surroundings and the dangers associated with it. The series features an ensemble cast, starring Kim Dickens as Madison Clark, Cliff Curtis as Travis Manawa, Frank Dillane as Nick Clark, Alycia Debnam-Carey as Alicia Clark, Lorenzo James Henrie as Chris Manawa, Rubén Blades as Daniel Salazar, and Mercedes Mason as Ofelia Salazar. The series premiered to mixed reviews, but has since gone on to become the highest rated show on cable and the fourth highest rated show on all of television. It has also been a recipient of several awards, including the Saturn Awards for Best Horror Television Series in 2016 and 2017.
